The first Tandridge Volunteer Fair, which took place at The Arc in Weston Drive Caterham on 17th, and 18th March 2012 was hailed as a great success. The event organized jointly by Tandridge Voluntary Service Council and Mark Jones of Ridge Radio.

Twenty-three local voluntary groups from across the district including Ridge Radio, The Scouts, Surrey Police, SECAmb Community Responders, Surrey Association for Visual Impairment, Tandridge Lions Talking Newspaper, Whyteleafe Helping Hands took the opportunity to showcase their work within the community. Volunteers from the various organisations were on hand to explain what they do and how you as a volunteer could help!

Ridge Radio the new radio station for Tandridge celebrated their launch with a Disco in the soft play area of The Arc in Weston Drive, Caterham on Friday 1st April.

Ridge Radio, which now broadcasts from across the car park to The Arc, was the brainchild of Mark Jones, who has encouraged and driven the local community to make this happen. [Read more…]

On Sunday 10th October zombies could be seen walking around the Arcade in The Arc, arts and recreation centre in Weston Drive, Caterham.

They were made up by a group of professional make up artists, for the zombie film “I suck your guts” directed by Sid Sabbath starring Tony Hickson, which was being filmed nearby.

The public meeting held on 16th September 2010 to launch a new radio station for Caterham was a great success. Mark Jones chaired the meeting for Radio Caterham held at The Arc in Weston Drive, Caterham.  Mark who earlier in the year organised Defest, a two-day music event at DeStafford School, is hoping the whole community will become involved and support this latest venture. On Saturday 4th September 2010 the soft play area of The Arc in Weston Drive, Caterham was transported back in time as cocktails were served to many dressed in 60’s, 70’s and 80’s outfits to dance to the retro rewind disco.

Beth Wood, Centre Director and her team joined in with the fun with music provided by local DJ John Lazenby of Disco79.
