On Sunday 13th November 2011 The Annual Caterham Remembrance Day Parade took place. Meeting at Caterham Ex Servicemen’s Club in Townend, Caterham on the Hill, members of Caterham Branch of the Royal British Legion laid wreaths at the Memorial outside the club.

Ex servicemen and women followed the Surrey Pipe Band as the parade then marched up the High Street and along Church Road, where more wreaths were laid at the War Memorial in the grounds of St Lawrence’s Church before the Memorial Service in St Mary’s Church, Caterham.

The morning was bright and sunny Local Councillor Jeremy Webster took the salute from the Parade on their return to the Memorial at Caterham Ex Serviceman’s Club. The ladies section of Caterham Branch of the Royal British Legion had prepared welcoming refreshments for those taking part in the Parade.

Members of the congregation of St Mary’s Church in Church Road, Caterham-on-the-Hill, put on a pantomime of Hansel and Gretel in The Emperor’s New Clothes’ on 29th and 30th January 2010 to raise funds towards the cost of a new boiler installed last year at a cost of £10,000.

Many of the cast are family groups, including the Rector with his wife and two sons. This is the 5th pantomime they have preformed and are hoping to beat the £1000 raised at last years pantomime.

Uniformed groups of all ages took part in the Annual Remembrance Day Parade that took place on Sunday 8th November 2009. Ex-Servicemen and Women led the way, following the Marching Band leaving Caterham Ex Serviceman’s Club in Townend, traveling up the High Street, along Church Road to the service at St Mary’s Church, Caterham.

Following the service and laying of the wreaths they marched back to Caterham Ex Serviceman’s Club for refreshments.
