The 2nd Caterham Festival was launched today 28th May 2010 at The Soper Hall in Harestone Valley Road, Caterham Valley. An invited audience heard Mr Norman Skinner read out his poem, which won the competition run by the Caterham & District Independent describing the Caterham Festival. Sam Gyimah the new MP for East Surrey also attended what is the start of a month of arts, sports, food, community & heritage events.

Caterham Festival won an award, they came first in the Social and Community category, of the South East Market Town.

Sam Gyimah replaces Peter Ainsworth as MP for East Surrey following the General Election on 6th May 2010. It was not until the early hours of the 7th before the count was completed at Oxted School in Bluehouse Lane when Conservative candidate Sam Gyimah heard he had a majority of over 16,000 votes over 2nd place Liberal Democrat candidate David Lee.
