On 14th November 2009 the King & Queen public house in the High Street, Caterham held a Remembrance Day event to raise funds for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The, then Landlady, Sophie Mannering and her partner Craig Anderson himself an ex Grenadier guardsman, decorated both inside and outside the Pub. Outside, sandbags and barbed wire surrounded the Park Road/High Street entrance with poppies and flags letting the locals know of the event. An American Jeep and a 40s car stood on the forecourt with petrol cans and ammunition cans to complete the effect. Just in case anyone had missed the fact that something was going on that day, two searchlights could be seen across the skies from Coulsdon, Godstone and Chaldon once darkness fell. [Read more...]
