As part of the Caterham Festival the second two day Music Festival – DeFest 2011 took place at De Stafford School in Burntwood Lane, Caterham on 18th and 19th June.

The Bands this year were first on stage Murder Is Rude, followed by Amberline. Shattered Intent were next up, followed by Better Than Good, The Merry Gang, Mandelson, A Day Before You, Edged and to finish off the day Theory of 6Degrees.

The Caterham & District Round Table, as part of the Caterham Festival organised the second ‘Waller Pain’ hill climb challenge on Sunday 12th June 2011.

Fifty riders took the challenge to cycle up Waller Lane against the clock. The Overall Fastest Male was Matthew Pilkington who did it in 1.14, with the Fastest Under 16 Male Alex Conway not far behind on a time of 1.55. Lizzie Elliot won both Overall Fastest Woman and Fit Mum with a time of 6.28, she was the only lady brave enough to attempt the Hill!

All entrants received a medal and a goody bag for their efforts.

Caterham Festival held their second Food Festival on Sunday 12th June in Croydon Road, Caterham Valley. The road was closed from 9am to 5pm from the roundabout along to the Co-op to allow the stalls to set up in the road.

Despite the appalling weather, shoppers still came and enjoyed the many wares offered by local business and the International Market. Most popular on this very cold and wet June day were the hot food and drink stalls!

The 3rd Caterham Festival, Street Party took place in Caterham High Street on Sunday 29th May 2011. Thousands of people turned out to see local bands, choirs, and individual musicians perform live on 3 stages along the High Street and Townend.

The 5th plinth proved popular with individuals just standing up to sing a song!

Ridge radio the new local radio station were in attendance, while No Name Jive held a Vintage Tea Dance in the Community Centre with a free dance lesson.

There was plenty for the children to do; they could play twister or chess, have their nails painted or try a little juggling with the help of circus performers. A big attraction was the live statue, who entertained both young and old.

The 3rd Caterham Festival, Street Party took place in the High Street and Townend, Caterham on Sunday 29th May 2011.

The now famous Caterham Round Table Boat Races were well supported. The children started the racing with boats from 1st Caterham St Mary’s Scout Group, T.S. Zephyr, The Arc and Ridge Radio.

The adult’s race was as competitive as ever with everyone trying to gain that extra advantage at the start of the race, Pink Sheep Marketing Solutions,  Paramount Website Design and Swift Facility Maintenance Ltd were just some of the local businesses supporting these events.
